DETROIT — The familiar face of Bishop Daniel Flores will be back and among the men speaking at the third annual Hispanic Men's Conference next Sunday.

Men of Love, Word and Sacrifice — Imitating Jesus: Priest, Prophet and King will be a Spanish-language men's conference held at Bishop Foley High School, Madison Heights. It's sponsored by the Office of Hispanic Affairs and Evangelization.

Presenting at the conference will be Bishop Flores, who, until earlier this year, served as auxiliary bishop of Detroit and the archdiocese's first Hispanic bishop; he now serves the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas as bishop.

Originally from Texas, and ordained for the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bishop Flores was appointed vice-chancellor and Episcopal vicar for the formation of priests after his ordination, and also served as vice-rector at St Mary's Seminary as well as a theology professor at St Thomas School of Theology in Houston. Bishop Flores obtained a doctorate in Theology at the University of St Thomas in Urbe (Angelicum) in Rome. At the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops he is a member of Faith Formation and Sacramental practices committee among many others.

Also speaking will be Fr. Enrique Sylvester, from Honduras, who is also a member of the Coordination Council for the community "Fortaleza de Dios" (God's Strength) in San Pedro Sula. He supports community Oasis del Señor at El Mochito, and works with Camino, an evangelization movement for married couples, which started in San Pedro Sula and has spread to many other countries in America.

Fr. Pablo Oggioni, SC, will also be attending the conference. Fr. Oggioni has been a missionary in Paraguay and the Philippines, and currently resides in Springfield, Pa., where he works with the Hispanic community in the Philadelphia Archdiocese.

Other speakers include Saul Morales, Lay Missionary from Chihuahua, Mexico; Nicky Sanabria and Nicky Sanabria Jr,; Paco Lopez, a lay minister of the Diocese of Lansing; Paco Gavrilides and Fernando Perales of the Archdiocese of Detroit; and the "Jeremías" Music Ministry.

The conference is open to men age 12 or older. Special topics include relationship between men and children, how to love our wives, and more.
