Fr. James Hayes, longest-serving archdiocesan priest, dies at 97

Fr. James L. Hayes was "a very smiling priest, a man of good cheer, and always looked healthy, too," Msgr. Ferdinand DeCneudt said Monday upon learning of the death last Sunday afternoon of the longest-serving priest in the Archdiocese of Detroit at age 97.
 
Urban ministry expert to speak at Living the Word II

The Church of Detroit will honor 47 archdiocesan priests celebrating milestone anniversaries of their ordination to the priesthood at a Jubilee Mass and luncheon Tuesday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
