Cardinal Adam Maida, archbishop of Detroit, and Detroit's four auxiliary bishops will preside at five separate Rite of Election Services to be held Saturday, February 9, and Sunday, February 10, at
Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 9844 Woodward Avenue, Detroit.
During these services, 1,065 adults and 137 children will begin the last step of preparation for their conversion and welcome into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
Saturday, February 9
Bishop Francis Reiss will preside at the 11 a.m. service
Bishop John Quinn will preside at the 2 p.m. service
Bishop Daniel Flores will preside at the 5 p.m. service
Sunday, February 10
Cardinal Adam Maida will preside at 2 p.m. service
Bishop Earl Boyea will preside at 5 p.m. service
Catholics believe that conversion to Jesus Christ is a lifelong and ongoing process. More than 200 parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit work with catechumens and candidates throughout the year.
