Over 3,000 men are expected to gather in prayer and fellowship at the 6th Annual Catholic Conference for Men on Saturday, April 12, at University of Detroit Mercy's Calihan Hall.  "Brothers in Christ Standing Together" is the theme of the event, titled Put Out into the Deep VI.

"Our goal is to spark interest in Christian fellowship among men, which can strengthen a man's relationship with Christ and make him a better example to his family, friends and fellow employees," said Paco Gavrilides, director of the Office for Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Detroit, sponsor of the event.

The conference program will include a one-man performance of St. Maximilian Kolbe by actor and playwright Leonardo Defilippis; and a presentation about the strength to overcome sin by Kenneth Henderson, founder of the True Knights International Apostolate, an organization that helps men overcome the sins of impurity and pornography.

In addition, there will be a presentation by Richard Lane, son of Detroit Lions' football legend Dick "Night Train" Lane, who runs an evangelization-focused lay ministry in St. Louis; and a presentation Michael Timmis, who was instrumental in the founding of the Men's Conference, on unity among those who follow Christ.

Fr. Timothy Whalen, chancellor of the Orchard Lake Schools, will conduct a breakout session for high school and college-aged men.  Fr. John Ricardo, pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Plymouth, will deliver the keynote address.

Cardinal Adam Maida, archbishop of Detroit, will celebrate Mass at 2:30 p.m. with Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Flores as homilist.  Confessions will be available throughout the day.

Advance registration is $40 per person, including lunch. Tickets will be available at the door for $50 per person.
