Catholic Cemeteries is a ministry within the Catholic Church that reaches out to the faithful at times of personal loss. A bereaved family looks to their faith for religious support. The comforting presence of the Church is such a blessing throughout the grieving period.
Our theology of the human person emphasizes the sacredness of life. Therefore, it is only natural for those who share the Catholic faith in life to be buried in consecrated grounds as a reminder of the beauty of God's life as manifested in the lives of the individuals buried there.
No visitor can enter Holy Cross, Holy Sepulchre or Our Lady or Hope and not feel the reverence the Church expresses for the faithful departed.
The Archdiocese of Detroit is served by eight large cemeteries (listed below) and numerous parish cemeteries.
Visits to the cemetery are very personal times for you and your loved ones. We encourage you to use the Catholic Cemeteries to pray, reflect and meditate.
