Pom Pon Regulations

1. All Pom Pon team members shall have on file at the school a current physical examination and assumption of risk/proof of insurance form.

2. Catholic League Pom Pon Teams should be safety conscientious at all times. Stunts and mounts should not be done if they involve a reasonable risk of injury.

3. Individual gymnastics are optional in your routines; extra points will not be awarded. If partner stunts are performed, one foot must remain on the ground.

4. Catholic League Pom Pon teams are to carefully scrutinize the music and choreography that is used. Teams will be responsible for content and should be certain that the values and morality present in Catholic Schools are not disregarded. Music or dance in poor taste for a Catholic School should be avoided and eliminated by Pom Pon Squads.

5. Catholic League Pom Pon teams should apply the "Specific Safety Guidelines" (pp. 7-12 of the MHSAA Cheerleading Guidelines -- published January, 1989).

6. All Catholic League Pom Pon Squads are to participate in the Catholic League Pom Pon Championships. (See CHSL Regulation 9 E).

7. It is required that teams have a minimum of  6 members and a maximum of 24. Teams are not required to have the same number of particpants for each routine. For example, a 20 member team could have 18 participants in the Dance Round and 13 particiapants in the Pom Round and not be in violation.

8. There will be two routines judged: Pom Pon (required) and either Dance or Novelty-Prop (choice of one). See scoresheets for specific routine requirements.

9. Routines shall include time - minimum and maximum, be original and may include movements which are prohibited or movements which must be included.

Penalties and strict enforcement of time limits and routine requirements/inclusions may include a deduction of points.

Coaches will be provided championship requirements well in advance of the competition.

10. Coaches of teams should attend the annual coaches meeting and be fully aware of all rules and interpretations.
