Very Rev. Msgr. Todd Lajiness earned an AB in Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1990.  He completed an STB at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1993, followed by an STL in Fundamental Theology also from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1995. Msgr. Lajiness completed a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome, (Angelicum) in 2000. He earned a Doctorate in Philosophy also from the Angelicum in 2002.  
 
Following his ordination to the priesthood in 1995, he served as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Victory in Northville Michigan and as Assistant Professor of Theology in the College of Liberal Arts at Sacred Heart Major Seminary from 1995-1997.  He was appointed Secretary to His Eminence Edmund Cardinal Szoka, President of the Pontifical Commission of Vatican City State in 1997.  While serving as Secretary to Cardinal Szoka (1997-2002), Msgr. Lajiness completed a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome, (Angelicum) in 2000.  He earned a Doctorate in Philosophy also from the Angelicum in 2002.  In 2002, Msgr. Lajiness returned to the Archdiocese of Detroit and was appointed Director of Undergraduate Formation at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and began teaching courses in Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts.  His weekend assignment is at Holy Family, Novi.  Monsignor Lajiness was appointed by His Eminence Adam Cardinal Maida to serve as the Dean of Studies in 2003. 
 
Msgr. Lajiness also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Catholic Youth Organization and the Catholic Youth Organization Priest Task Force; and Archdiocesan Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus.  His professional activities include:  serving on the Executive Committee of the Mid-West Association of Theological Schools.  Msgr. Lajiness also has given a variety of talks and retreats to seminarian and parochial groups.
 
Monsignor Lajiness was appointed to the office of rector and president of Sacred Heart on February 13, 2012, by Archbishop Vigneron. At the same time, he was made a "Chaplain to His Holiness" by Pope Benedict XVI and awarded the honorary title of "Monsignor." On May 5, 2012, Msgr. Lajiness formally assumed responsibilities as thirteenth rector of the seminary, succeeding Msgr. Jeffrey Monforton.
 
In addition to his responsibility as the rector, he also serves the institution on the Administrative Council; Student Recruitment Council; Faculty Search and Promotion Committee; Faculty Concerns Committee; Library; Institutional Assessment Committee; Priestly Formation Team; College Seminarian Advisor Team; MDiv Degree Committee; and MDiv Admissions.
